Back at Home – With Truly Great Speakers

My teaching assignment at the Pädagogische Hochschule Tirol was — to my surprise — not extended. A very different, somewhat quirky story. I’m now back at my alma mater, the BRG Reutte, where I teach Digital Basic Education and German.

This new beginning is special in every respect: we even have a new principal! To be honest, at first I didn’t want to draw attention to myself — I just wanted to do my work. But the spirit of renewal has energized me, and there are topics where I feel compelled to assert my viewpoints. As (self-appointed head of computer science) I feel obligated to clarify certain issues — for myself, but of course also with my colleagues and for our school.

The central topic at the moment for me is the use of AI; I’m — by now — of the same opinion as Alicia Bankhofer about it. More on that soon.

Now to something completely different — after various experiments (and investments) I’ve ended up again where I was over 30 years ago with the budget from my summer job: nothing compares to speakers you can feel in your stomach. I have AirPods Pro 3 and Shure 846 — great, but no comparison. My latest discovery, suited to my life in front of screens, are the Kali IN-5 connected to my Mojo2.

By now, anyone in the know realizes that I’m something of a fanatic — and many apparently think so too.

For example, listening to The Strottern has never sounded so neutral and direct.

Now I’m sitting here in front of my screens — I bought the second monitor just for work — and what I need now are speakers that my body feels and that move my soul. It’s almost the same thing.
